Steben Alexander is a contemporary Canadian visual artist. He works primarily with photography, print medium and video. His artistic practice shows a reality of enigmatic subjects that bring beauty to the dark and mysterious. His models are staged into scenarios that are constructed to narrate stories through figurative photographs, ultimately immortalizing his models as works of art. Steben has recently participated in the International Art Fair of Toronto, and is currently working on a portrait series focused on Canadian figures who have had a great impact bringing attention to our reputable art/entertainment scene on an international level.
His artwork is included in private and public collections internationally including Saatchi Art New Pop up Collection and La Casati Archives. He has worked with such people as Deserres, Ssense, Black & Blue, Divercité, Musique Plus (MTV), E! Network, Denis Gagnon, Alain Simard ( Jazz Festival), David Lachapelle's Amanda Lepore, John Water's Mink Stole, Korean Soprano Sumi Jo, Monique Allen, Armand Vaillancourt, Dominic Besner, Michèle Richard among others.
He is recognized as a Distinguished Artist by Toronto based magazine Art Ascent, and won The Audience Choice award presented by Claude Cormier + Associés, March 12th 2017.
